Pipedrive is a sales CRM for managing leads, deals and pipelines, with email sync, automations, meeting intelligence and paid add-ons such as LeadBooster.

Verdict: Independent users describe Pipedrive as a simple, sales-only pipeline tool that small teams actually keep updated, and some have run on it for years. The recurring trade-off is a ceiling: past about a dozen reps, or once marketing data needs to sit in the deal view, several teams moved to HubSpot, and add-ons push the real cost well above the base price. Opinion is genuinely split, and about a third of the 100 comments reviewed were promotional, mostly rival CRMs, custom-CRM builders and sync or lead tools pitching in the threads.

What users like

  • Simple enough that reps actually use it; one team switched from HubSpot for that reason[1][2][3][4]
  • Nicer to use day to day than HubSpot, according to teams that later moved to HubSpot anyway[1][2]
  • Covers straightforward sales needs for years, with gaps filled by integrations or add-ons[1][2][3]
  • Per-seat pricing scales linearly without forced plan jumps[1]

What users complain about

  • Hits a ceiling as teams grow, especially when sequences, lead scoring or marketing attribution need to live with deal data[1][2][3][4][5]
  • Add-ons and higher tiers push real cost well above the headline price; one user puts 12 seats at $700-800/mo all-in[1][2][3]
  • Data model bends badly for non-deal records such as properties with multiple owners and units[1][2]
  • Reporting can be unreliable: one user saw closed deals missing from reports and a pipeline view that shifts when scrolling[1]

Best for

  • Small sales teams moving off spreadsheets
  • Sales-only pipeline tracking without marketing automation

Skip it if

  • Teams that need marketing and sales data in one place
  • Sales orgs scaling past about a dozen reps
  • Businesses whose records are not deals, such as commercial real estate

In their own words

We switched from HubSpot to Pipedrive last year and honestly the simplicity alone made my team actually use the CRM instead of avoiding it lol. HubSpot’s great if you need the whole marketing ecosystem, but for pure sales tracking Pipedrive just feels less bloated. What’s everyone’s biggest dealbreaker in a CRM?

We went through exactly this. First few years on Pipedrive and it was genuinely great. Small team, sales-first culture, everyone actually used it. The simplicity is a feature, not a limitation, at that stage. Then we outgrew it. The moment you want marketing and sales data to actually talk to each other, Pipedrive starts feeling like a workaround. We moved to HubSpot and it solved that problem. More runway, better v…

Why is Pipedrive a nightmare? It have found it simple to set up and use.
rechat is actually not bad for real estate stuff but the learning curve is steep for field reps who just want to log a call and move on pipedrive would be my pick here, the interface is simple enough that even the older agents wont hate it and the api is decent for pulling in those rbj csv exports. hubspot gets expensive fast once you need actual automation beyond the free tier avoid zoho unless you have some…

We made this call about a year ago at a similar size. Ended up on HubSpot mostly because the ceiling on Pipedrive started feeling real once we wanted marketing touchpoints showing up in the same deal view. Pipedrive is genuinely nicer to use day to day but we kept hitting moments where we needed context that just wasn't there.

Migrating would be a pain. Hubspot might be the wiser choice if you expect to need the features. My needs after all these years are still simple enough to be met by Pipedrive.
