Thin evidence

tl;dv is an AI meeting recorder and notetaker for Zoom, Google Meet and Microsoft Teams that records and transcribes calls, writes summaries and follow-ups, and shares notes to other apps.

Verdict

Independent discussion is thin: only about seven non-promotional comments give a first-hand opinion, and most other mentions are tl;dv as a name in lists of notetakers. Those users like its summaries for client calls, user interviews and competitor tracking, while complaints cover transcript export locked behind a paid tier, poor transcripts in mixed-language meetings and a bot that sends sign-up invites to colleagues. Many comments were promotional: a cluster of near-identical posts from different accounts in July and August 2026 praised tl;dv in the same feature talking points, a tl;dv account linked its own comparison pages, and several more plugged other products.

What users like

  • Users rely on it to transcribe client meetings and produce summaries and follow-up minutes, which also leaves a record if a client disputes what was said[1][2][3]
  • Works for user research: one user records discovery interviews with it and uses the transcription, AI summary notes and ask-a-question feature[1]
  • One product team has sales reps record calls with it and pulls competitor mentions into a report for a competitive intelligence dashboard[1]
  • A European user says it is EU-based with servers in Frankfurt, joins Zoom and Teams calls you do not host, and captures action items and decisions[1]

What users complain about

  • Copying or pasting a transcript requires a premium tier[1]
  • Transcripts can be very poor when speakers switch languages mid-meeting; one tester found it no better than Google Meet's own transcript[1]
  • Its bot is hard to block in Zoom and can send sign-up invites to other attendees on behalf of a user who installed it[1]

Best for

  • Small teams that want calls on Google Meet, Zoom or Teams transcribed and summarized
  • Product and research teams recording user interviews
  • European teams looking for an EU-based notetaker

Skip it if

  • Meetings where speakers switch between languages
  • Users who want transcripts on the free plan

In their own words

Use a meeting recorder, there are many that auto summarize calls. We use tldv, there is fathom as well. After the meeting make sure to have a workflow that summarizes and sends the meeting minutes to the prospects. This way you don't need to worry about who said what etc. If this was an in person meeting, again there are several tools that would record the whole thing so you still have a paper trail.

I've been testing a few options for this recently since we're also in Europe and needed GDPR-compliant recording. For hosting your own calls with built-in AI summaries, I'd look at tl;dv (they're EU-based and have servers in Frankfurt). It integrates directly with Zoom and Teams, so you can bring it as a bot to meetings you don't host. The summaries are pretty solid, captures action items and key decisions autom…

Userinterviews.com can help get a panel of users who are in your specified profession to interview. I just started using them. For customs discovery interview. I’ve drafted up a list of questions and am recording the sessions using tldv.io they do transcription and do AI summary notes and you can also ask questions. It’s pretty interesting. Maze is good to unmoderated user testing. If you need to do live sessions.…

Depends on budget and goals: big budget? pay for play with the analysts and/or buy CI tools like klue or crayon DYI or smaller budget? some combo of insights from what salespeople hear, public reviews, analysis of websites/products. I've got sales teams to start using AI note takers (tldv is what we use, but there are others), which automatically pull competitor insights into a report. We then use tho…

Nice ad. But I was definitely interested in solving this too. I used TL;DV. There’s a long list of competitors but it’s unclear to me which produces the most accurate transcripts and offers the best method for modifying note templates. I don’t like that a transcript is produced and I can’t copy and paste it without paying for a premium tier version

Do not think about one being "The Best". Since none is really the best for everyone. And the majority of the top ones are good. If you get invited to the call by someone else, so the transcript will not be in your Teams environment, you need to use one of the transcribing tools that you have to give access to your calendar (a common security issue with all enterprises). If you can do that, every time you accept a mee…
