Updated #2 in Interactive Demosstorylane.io
50/100

Storylane builds interactive product demos from screenshots, video or captured HTML that teams embed on websites or send to prospects, with demo hubs, sandbox demos and engagement analytics.

Verdict

About 17 non-promotional comments carry an opinion, most of them short. Users say it is easy and quick to build with, and sales engineers use it to hand off repeat overview demos to AEs and prospects; the trade-off is cost, with users calling it pricey or overpriced and one consultant noting that lower tiers are screenshot-based and HTML capture costs far more. More than half the Reddit mentions are promotional: a run of near-identical Storylane-versus-Consensus takes that steer toward Consensus, Pulse for Reddit plugs, rival builders such as Supademo, DemoSlice and Peutly, and a reply from a Storylane employee.

What users like

  • Easy to use and quick to get results; one user of both tools says demos come together faster than in Navattic[1][2][3][4]
  • Takes repeat overview demos off sales engineers: they build a click-through path, AEs send it, and live time goes to specific questions[1][2][3][4]
  • A user of both tools found its analytics clearer and multi-branch demos easy to write, and it can overlay buttons and text on full screen recordings, not just HTML scrapes[1]
  • Screenshot-based demos make it easy to swap screens as features change, including before the product is finished[1]
  • Two buyers describe a knowledgeable, generous vendor team, including extended sandbox time during a five-month evaluation[1][2]

What users complain about

  • Users call it pricey or overpriced for what it does, even when conversions justified the cost[1][2]
  • A consultant who has built in several tools says lower tiers are screenshot-based rather than truly interactive, and HTML capture costs about ten times the base price[1]
  • One team that cancelled after a budget crunch lost its hosted demos and had to rebuild everything from scratch[1]
  • An enterprise team that uses it for walk-throughs says canned demos are not good enough to replace live, discovery-led demos[1]
  • A team that tested both found Navattic's builder friendlier and its free-plan analytics deeper[1]

Best for

  • Sales engineers offloading repeat overview demos to AEs and prospects
  • Quick website tours, documentation walk-throughs and leave-behinds
  • Small teams starting with screenshot-based demos

Skip it if

  • Teams that need HTML capture on a small budget
  • Replacing live discovery demos in complex enterprise sales
  • Teams that might cancel and need to keep their demos

In their own words

We're using Storylane for interactive demos on our website. It's really easy to use. We've never tried the voiceover, but I saw that there is also possibilty to do AI voiceovers too.

Loom, Descript and Storylane. Best tools I’ve used. Bug free, easy to use and quick results.

Just went through this for our SaaS product.. We ended up going with Storylane after the company dragged their feet for 5 months as we begged for extra time in the sandbox so management (who is not very acquainted with SaaS or SaaS sales) could flush out every detail at every level. After all of that they still went and begged for a "because the economy" discount lol. Storylane was great throughout the whole process …

Storylane is great for creating static image demo's, and can easily change out screens as features are updated.

We just implemented a tool specific to this reason at my job. Storylane and honestly has been a god send. I create live demos but as a click through pathway and can have the AE’s send it out and then come back to me if there specific questions or use cases we need to align on with the prospect and this way I’m not wasting my time on continued general overview demos

The best use of Storylane is for public consumption and as a force multiplier for us so far. Allow prospects to click through the canned demo on their own time, then see what questions they still have. Arm every AD, junior SE, whomever with the link and let them run through the canned demo on their own. Save the mega in depth, live and interactive demos for when you need them to close the deal. Ideally, Storylane…
