Calendly is a scheduling platform that lets people book meetings from a shared link against the host's calendar availability, with team scheduling, reminders and follow-ups.

Verdict

Independent users like Calendly for what it was built for: ending the back-and-forth of finding a meeting time, which several small business owners and freelancers say saves them hours a week, and some use paid bookings through Stripe to filter out time-wasters. The pushback comes from two directions. Salespeople argue that sending a booking link to a prospect hurts replies compared with sending a calendar invite, one team saw it in an A/B test, and one enterprise account owner running 50 hosts describes it as buggy, inflexible, poorly supported and expensive. Most of the 100 Reddit mentions only name it in passing, and about 15 were promotional, so this rests on about 25 real opinions.

What users like

  • Ends the back-and-forth over meeting times; several users say it saves them hours every week[1][2][3][4][5]
  • Clients pick from only the availability you set, and it prevents double booking[1][2][3]
  • Paid bookings through Stripe let coaches and consultants charge per session and screen out people who only want free advice[1][2][3]
  • Simple enough that solo users and small teams set it up and rely on it, with the free plan enough to start[1][2][3][4][5]
  • Premium syncs across multiple calendars and sends client reminders, which one user calls worth the price[1]

What users complain about

  • In sales outreach, a booking link can hurt replies: one team saw better engagement sending manual times in an A/B test, and reps prefer sending a calendar invite so the prospect does less work[1][2][3][4][5]
  • An enterprise account owner running 50 hosts calls it buggy, inflexible, poorly supported and expensive, and stays only because migrating is a hassle[1]
  • Ongoing client use needs the paid plan, and some see it as an avoidable cost because Google Workspace and Microsoft include booking pages[1][2][3]
  • Reporting is thin if you need to tie booking behaviour back to conversion data[1]

Best for

  • Freelancers, consultants and small businesses letting clients self-book
  • Charging for paid sessions or filtering time-wasters with a booking fee
  • Replacing back-and-forth emails over meeting times

Skip it if

  • Cold outbound where a booking link can depress reply rates
  • Large teams needing deep customization and responsive enterprise support
  • Teams already covered by Google Workspace or Microsoft booking pages

Pricing

From $10/seat/mo

Free plan with one event type and one calendar connection. Paid plans billed annually: Standard $10 and Teams $16 per seat per month; monthly billing costs more (the page says annual saves 17% and 20%). Enterprise starts at $15k per year with a 50-seat minimum. Only hosts need seats; invitees do not.

In their own words

Calendly. For years I would spend time going back and forth with people who wanted to meet with me. Then times would fill up. Reschedules would take multiple interactions. Letting the other party control (within parameters I’ve set up) what they need and how we meet saves me at least ten hours per week.

Call recording, specifically fathom. I never have to take good notes and I can go back to calls and ask questions if I forget details. Honorable mention: Calendly. Saves me so much time.

Calendly. Nowadays if someone tells me they're available Tuesday at 11-12 or 2-3 or Wednesday at 1-2pm or 9-10, im like wtf? And i just send them my calendar.

Sending people my Calendly when they ask if I want to jump on a call.

Dude, I’m basically an ops manager and fuckin everything manager under the owner of a service business. Sick & tired of middle-manning booking estimates so I just setup calendly booking form > Google Calendar > auto workflow that parses the booking into grade 4 reading > texts to the owner. Boom. I’m free.

Calendly works great. Let's the customers select their preferred time from a list that shows only your set availabilities and doesn't let them double book.
